About the role...

This is a new role, designed to provide focussed therapeutic supports tailored to meet the individual needs of individuals accessing services within a community based mental health care setting. Aftercare provides similar clinical services through its integrated service centres (e.g. The Floresco Centres, headspace Centres) and is now looking for Clinicians to support our clients that require therapeutic supports as a component of their NDIS packages.

 The Clinician will play a critical role in delivering holistic services to people with severe mental illness as part of Aftercare's suite of supports.

 The Right Fit...

The Clinician will participate, as part of a multidisciplinary team, in providing comprehensive, specialist and early intervention mental health services.

You will/will have:

  • Sound knowledge of and demonstrated experience in clinical practice and therapeutic interventions within the mental health field
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high quality assessment and evidence-based psychological interventions, within a stress-vulnerability and recovery framework
  • Demonstrated ability to collaboratively plan and coordinate individualised psychosocial interventions to meet the needs of people with a mental illness based on a case formulation approach
  • Maintain a high level of communication with members of the multidisciplinary team, consumers, and carers and actively participating in multidisciplinary committees as directed by the Clinical Team Leader &/or Consultant Psychiatrist.
  • Monitor and report on clinical practices and outcomes within clinical service area and actively participate in initiating, developing and implementing quality service improvement activities consistent with organisational planning that enhance the delivery of discipline specific and multidisciplinary services.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation.

Current Driver's Licence and use of personal car is an essential requirement for this role.

Selection Criteria

The successful applicant must be registered as an eligible provider with Medicare and hold a tertiary degree qualification from an accredited tertiary institution.

Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with a current annual practicing certificate or eligibility for full membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers is mandatory.

Approved tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline and eligibility for membership of AHPRA or the appropriate professional body (see below)

Registered Nurse - Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent OR Bachelor Degree in Nursing or Equivalent plus an approved postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

Occupational Therapist - Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) to practice with the National Board.

Psychologist - Registration as a psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009). Practice endorsement or eligibility to enter a registrar program as a clinical/clinical neuropsychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Social Worker - Approved degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
