About the Department
Dialysis service provides both peritoneal dialysis and haemodialysis. It caters for a wide range of patient needs including satellite and home services, as well as nocturnal haemodialysis. On-site dialysis is provided at St. Vincent’s Fitzroy and St. George’s sites for patients experiencing acute and chronic renal failure. The Dialysis Unit encourages ongoing professional development and promotes a standard of excellent in clinical nursing within a cohesive and flexible team.
About the Role
An opportunity currently exists for a Grade 2 Registered Nurse to join the Dialysis Unit Team on a fixed term part time basis to cover maternity leave. As a Grade 2 Registered Nurse you will be responsible for the delivery of expert nursing care and support the patients undergoing dialysis in both the inpatient and outpatient dialysis facilities whilst gaining exposure to chronic and acute dialysis.
Duties
- Document, observe and report relevant nursing findings about patients’ status’ and progress
- Liaise with patients, patient’s family, medical and ancillary staff as required
- Acts as a role model and provide support to junior staff in all clinical aspects
- Completion of Handover in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures
- Actively participate and contribute to all departmental quality improvements
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Degree in Nursing
- Current Nursing Registration with AHPRA
- Previous experience in Haemodialysis is essential
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with patients and staff at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated time management with the ability to prioritise activities
