About the role
Due to the development of a new ambulatory allied health service (Ramsay Health Plus), we are currently seeking an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker to provide intervention/ counselling and support to outpatients, including patients with cancer and their carers. The casual position will initially involve a half day oncology service in the outpatient clinic, but will also provide locum opportunities in other Allied Health areas, including the mental health unit, pain management program and acute/palliative care counselling.
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
Essential:
- Degree in Social Work
- Membership of relevant professional association (AASW) and an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW)
- Minimum 3 years clinical experience in a mental health setting and specific interest in the care of oncology patients
- Demonstrated practical skills in care co-ordination and community referral
- Demonstrated ability to effectively apply conflict resolution, crisis management and counselling skills
- Experience in group facilitation for the development of relationship skills
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong commitment to customer service, quality outcomes and a flexible, positive approach to work
- Commitment to professional development and maintenance of current evidence based practice
Desirable:
- Specialised knowledge of oncological conditions and co-morbid diagnoses
- Specialised knowledge of PTSD and co-morbid diagnoses, the needs of the veteran community and mental health legislation
- Knowledge and clinical experience in pain management and acute hospital care
