About the role

Based in Tamworth on a 3 year Full Time Contract, this is a rare opportunity to be part of an exciting initiative, implementing Multi-systemic Therapy - Child Abuse & Neglect (MST-CAN).
  
MST-CAN is an internationally recognised program, specifically designed to treat 6-17 year-olds and their families. MST-CAN supports all family members to be involved with treatment, aiming to reduce the risk of children entering out-of-home care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting assessments and delivering treatments according to Multi-Systemic Therapy principles.
  • Providing direct clinical treatment using methods compatible with MST principles and practices.
  • Engaging primary caregivers and other key participants in active change-orientated treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with community stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with all relevant systems and key participants within each system to ensure their buy-in and cooperation throughout the MST-CAN treatment.
  • Maintaining clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that demonstrate compliance with MST Principles.
  
  
Skills & Experience
  • Masters’ degree in Clinical Social Work, Psychology or related subject area preferred (a Bachelor degree in the above, accompanied by relevant experience may be considered).
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional organisation/s.
  • Experience in the Child and Family Welfare field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy including trauma treatment, anger management, Structural Family Therapy, Strategic Family Therapy, and behaviourally-based treatments. 
  • Experience in trauma treatment for adults and children using exposure, cognitive therapies and stress inoculation training.
