The Telethon Kids Institute is one of the nation's leading medical research organisations with impressive facilities in Subiaco, Western Australia. It is home to more than 500 staff and postgraduate students who are dedicated to tackling the major causes of childhood disease, disability and disadvantage. Our research teams are among the world's best and we have strong affiliations with Princess Margaret Hospital for Children and all the major Western Australian universities, particularly The University of Western Australia and Curtin University.

2018 will be a significant year for the Telethon Kids Institute with a move to brand new premises within the new children's hospital building at the QEII Campus in Nedlands. The new building will see the Telethon Kids Institute co-located with the new Perth Children's Hospital and housed in state-of-the-art premises with increased space and improved access to leading edge technology and research facilities.

 

The Opportunity

This role will contribute to the Autism Research Program conducted at the Telethon Kids Institute (Perth, Australia) through liaising with individuals and families to coordinate all aspects of participation in a range of research studies.  The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, a high level of attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure and excellent time management and communication skills. 

The Role

  • Explain research projects to potential participants  
  • Screen potential participants for eligibility  
  • Book research meetings through coordinating participants, researchers and resources using scheduling
  • Software 
  • Distribute information and surveys to participants and share replies with researchers 
  • Maintain relevant databases
  • Assist the clinical and/or research team with administrative activities as required, including in specific research projects.

Experience

  • Qualification/s in administration or a relevant health field 
  • Experience working with individuals with a disability and/or their family members 
  • High-level verbal and written communication skills, including face-to-face, telephone, email and letters 
  • Ability to develop rapport with potential / current participants in a research context 
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a broad, multidisciplinary team  
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and set priorities 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large and varied workload and maintain motivation under pressure 

2 roles available across two teams with options for 0.6 to 0.8 FTE, fixed term for 2 years with the possibility of extension. 

Salary will be between $58,026 and $62,131 pro rata.

The successful candidate will be asked to provide a satisfactory National Police Check and Working With Children's check prior to commencement.
