P/T and F/T opportunities

  • Part-time, 60hrs/fortnight
  • Full-time, 80hrs/fortnight

  • Based at Bundoora

Life with us:

Merv Irvine Nursing Home is the Aged Residential unit of NWMH. The Unit is situated in Bundoora on the Bundoora Extended Care Campus. We are a specialised nursing home providing care for the older persons living with a dementia or mental health illness that require specialist care. The team is made up of Registered nurses and Enrolled nurses with support for Psychiatrist and GP services and allied health

 

A job to be proud of:

  • Promote high quality standards of resident care
  • Identify residents with potential health care needs and coordinate and report to ensure all health care needs are responded too quickly and most effectively by the team
  • Implement and evaluate engagement activities for residents (including group work / individual sessions)
  • Contribute, document and evaluate the assessment, development, implementation and monitoring of a comprehensive plan of care for residents, in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team

Your Contribution:

  • Demonstrate an understanding and best practice in dementia care and mental health in the older person living in a residential home
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise, collaborate and negotiate with other services and consumer and carer groups.
  • Well developed and demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to function as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Undertake routine general observations of clients and report any changes regarding physical or psychological condition to the nurse in charge.
  • Under direction undertake basic therapeutic and recovery tasks with the client, either individually or in groups.
