This rare leadership opportunity is available for a committed and organised senior Registered Nurse/Midwife to lead our Maternity Unit at St John of God Bendigo Hospital.

Pivotal to the role is the ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders through exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. You will have the relevant experience coupled with a passion to share your knowledge and skills through guidance and support as you lead your team.

This is a permanent full time position working 76 hours per fortnight, Monday to Friday commencing in December 2018.

As the Nurse Unit Manager - Maternity, you will experience the challenges and triumphs of: 

  • Providing ongoing support and commitment to your team to achieve excellence within the service
  • Providing excellent clinical knowledge and practice to patients, families and the team, while maintaining strong relationships
  • Facilitating caregiver development including coaching, mentoring and achieving clinical competencies
  • Coordinating and managing caregivers (rosters, skill mix, FTE requirements)
  • Seek opportunities for innovative approaches

The Requirements 

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Extensive clinical nursing / midwifery experience relevant to the position.
  • Advanced clinical knowledge and skills, with recent broad-based midwifery expertise
  • Demonstrated management experience
  • Ability to lead a team with negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Previous experience in analysing issues and problem solving
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement
  • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to identify and manage poor performance and reward good performance.
