What you'll be doing
- To enhance the effectiveness of the mental health and drug and alcohol services within Adolescent Health by providing an expert patient centred nursing consultancy practice.
- The Dual Diagnosis Clinical Nurse Consultant (DDCNC) participates in patient care provision in Juvenile Justice Centres and actively liaises with Justice Health & Forensic Mental Health Network (JH&FMHN) staff across mental health, drug and alcohol, physical and adolescent health.
- Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia and holds an unrestricted NSW Driving licence with a willingness to travel within NSW as required.
- Minimum five years full time equivalent postgraduate experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in adolescent mental health and drug & alcohol.
- Approved postgraduate mental health nursing and/or drug and alcohol qualifications.
- Proven ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the utilisation of evidence based research.
- Demonstrated skills in clinical teaching, competency in the use of contemporary information systems and experience in the development of specialty education programs.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in client-centred consultancy with the ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated knowledge of adolescent development and clinical expertise in managing mental health and drug and alcohol health issues in adolescents.
- Demonstrated effective communication and inter-personal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework.
