The BMI Clinic is the leader in the provision of surgical and non-surgical patient-centred bariatric care and lifestyle programs in Australia. Our clinic is comprised of an extensive multidisciplinary team including Physicians, Surgeons, Nurses, Dietitians and Clinical Psychologists.

The BMI Clinic is looking for a dynamic, engaging and self-motivated Physiotherapist/ Exercise Physiologist to join our innovative team. The successful applicant will work closely with our Medical Director and Program Manager, as well as the other health professionals, to coordinate and deliver an evidence-based exercise program as part of our holistic obesity management services.

We are offering a permanent part-time role based at our clinic in Double Bay, Sydney.

Key responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop and implement a structured, evidence-based exercise program that integrates with our comprehensive obesity management service.
  • Provide Physiotherapy/ Exercise Physiology services, assessments, exercise sessions and treatments in accordance with registration requirements, via individual and group consultations/ classes.
  • Incorporate the use of technology and/ or apps to motivate patients towards their exercise and weight loss goals, and support them in overcoming barriers to exercise.
  • Implement gamified strategies to enhance the patient experience and attainment of their goals.
  • Contribute to clinical research (with support from our Research Officer) and quality improvement activities to ensure continuous improvement of patient outcomes.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the exercise literature relative to obesity management, and where appropriate, develop strategies to implement new techniques into our programs.
  • Collaborate with and provide advice to the extended multidisciplinary team to continue to develop our evidence-based obesity management programs.

Required skills and experience include:

  • Full AHPRA/ ESSA accreditation
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously

  • Exemplary communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a range of people
  • Professional experience and/ or interest in bariatric therapies
