The Role

A new position has been created for a National Sales Manager, Cardiovascular, reporting to the Business Unit Director, General Medicine.  This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of Amgen in this competitive therapeutic space with an innovative biologic medicine providing a new solution to patients with serious illness.

In this role you will maximise revenue and market share for the Australian affiliate by driving sales activity and providing strategic leadership to a new national team of cardiovascular hospital/specialist sales representatives. 

In this true customer-facing role, you will coach and lead this new national sales team to drive outstanding business results and the development of top talent in addition to advancing customer-centricity by providing key input into overall brand strategy. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Build a high performing team by recruiting and selecting top talent candidates and effectively on-boarding new hires
  • Lead, inspire, coach and motivate team members to achieve affiliate vision for success and achieve/exceed territory business goals
  • Demonstrate coaching excellence via in-field coaching and customer visits to meet KPIs
  • Build talent by advancing the personal leadership and potential of individual team members through on-going capability development
  • Provide input into the development of brand strategy and translate strategy into tactical plans; ensure rigor in execution excellence by development of strategic territory business plans with team members
  • Measure and monitor implementation of territory plans throughout sales cycles and ensure budgetary control
  • Analyse sales performance of relevant brand and identifies key levers for prompt action
  • Monitor and evaluate overall field force metrics and standards to maximise sales force effectiveness
  • Conduct annual and ongoing performance reviews and capability assessment within the Amgen capability and performance management framework
  • Keep key stakeholders informed of any relevant market changes or competitor activity
  • Contribute to overall business unit sales management team to advance shared objectives.

 

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential Experience

  • Significant experience and proven success in pharmaceutical sales management leading and developing a high performing national specialty team
  • Proven ability to inspire, influence and coach to drive outstanding results
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to drive success through teamwork and engagement
  • Demonstrated strengths in business acumen, strategic thinking and a customer experience mindset
  • Strengths in agility, personal drive and resilience to advance the vision for the company
  • Experience with relevant computer systems (CRM databases and MS Office)
  • Excellence in oral and written communication

Preferred:

  • Previous experience with biologic therapeutics, and/or prior cardiovascular, endocrinology or rheumatology experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in life science or (bio) medical sciences
  • Proven experience in managing across multiple products and therapeutic areas
  • Experience in interacting with multiple stakeholders and organisational levels
  • Experience in project management
