The Position
St John of God Berwick Hospital is seeking applications from suitably qualified Patient Care Assistants to join our dedicated and multiskilled Surgical Ward on a casual basis.
You will be an integral part of the team and provide a high standard of patient care, including patient transport, food distribution, ward cleaning and supporting the nursing staff as required.
This position will require the successful candidates to be available seven (7) days per week across AM, PM and night shifts as required and often at short notice.
The successful candidate will have:
- A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
- Certificate III in Health Service Assistant (Client/Patient Services) or similar; or currently studying in a health related field at a tertiary level.
- Demonstrate well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and ability to identify work priorities and plan to meet them.
- Demonstrate effectiveness in working in a team environment.
- Knowledge of principles of manual handling.
- Knowledge of basic cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Food handling skills including hygiene standards.
