Laverty Pathology is a leading provider of pathology and medical diagnostic services to doctors, specialists and hospitals throughout New South Wales (NSW) and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). We also provide medical diagnostic services to commercial and government organisations across Australia and internationally.

Laverty Pathology is currently seeking Pathology Collectors to perform Venepunctures, ECG and Holter tests.  We currently have full time, part time and casual positions available for enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals to fill our positions based in Metro South area. These positions will participate in roster including weekends and public holidays and can be asked to cover the operation of all clinics within Metro South area.   

Reporting to the Collections Area Co-ordinator, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Collection of blood and other samples from patients
  • Attending to the care, storage and processing of pathology specimens
  • Ability to work alone and participate in weekend and rotating roster as well as out of hour’s roster in any of our collection centres.
  • Attend to paperwork and associated clerical duties to ensure all details are correct in a timely manner
  • Accurately record information relating to patients and specimen
  • Compliance and adherence with Laverty Pathology policies and procedures, and Workplace Health and Safety procedures;
  • Ensure the housekeeping and stock supplies at Collection centres is maintained to acceptable standards

To be considered for this role:

  • A Certificate III in Venepuncture is preferred but not essential
  • A minimum of 12 months experience in Venepuncture is preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Collections team, referring Doctors, Patients and other Stakeholders; both written and verbal
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding and dedication to patient care and service delivery standards
  • Ability to demonstrate sound organisation skills and problem solving skills
  • Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
  • Basic computer skills and exceptional telephone manner is essential
  • Ability to understand and ensure compliance with WH&S policies and guidelines to maintain and a safe and healthy workplace
