The Role:
An exciting opportunity exists for a Consultant Anaesthetist to join this existing team of Specialists. You will be expected to provide quality Anaesthetic services, clinical leadership and operational management of Anaesthetic services to the Health Service.
The Hospital:
This is an acute Rural Referral Hospital with 160 beds that forms part of a cluster, providing a broad range of specialist services to the local residents. The hospital includes specialist wards/units for surgery, day surgery, general medicine, critical care, obstetrics, pediatrics, emergency services, oncology, palliative care, rehabilitation, acute renal dialysis, high dependency and mental health.
The Mental Health inpatient unit provides acute care to whole range of adult psychiatric patients with Major Psychiatric illness like Schizophrenia, Bipolar Affective Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder, Depression, Personality Disorders etc. A significant number of patients have co morbid drug abuse problems as well. A 16 bed sub-acute psychogeriatric TBASIS unit and a 7bed rehabilitation facility in is also part of the Mental Health Service.
The Location:
For those who yearn for more action, there's plenty to keep you busy, from water sports and fishing to bushwalking and horse-riding in the surrounding areas. There are few places in New South Wales that offer such a superb choice of fishing in and deep-sea, lake, rock, river or beach format.
This a fine base for exploring the many attractions of the Valley and Great Lakes regions. These include natural attractions of the coast and hinterland national parks and state forests, as well as several surrounding villages of considerable charm.
Located only about 3 hours north of Sydney, around the town you will see many historic buildings, there are some natural style beautiful parks by the river to enjoy. There are plenty of shopping facilities, restaurants and cafes as well as arts and craft shops and the Art Gallery.
A town with a good community feel and obviously a slower pace than the cities and affordable living.
Skills & Qualifications required:
1.Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetics (FANZCA).
2.Demonstrated high level skills and experience (preferably in a range of settings).
3.Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team.
4.High level of interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with clients, carers and workers and liaise with a wide range of service providers and work efficiently in a multidisciplinary team.
5.Extensive clinical experience in Anaesthesia
