About Psychiatric Services
Bendigo Health’s Psychiatric Services Division provides a broad range of services to people with mental illness. Bendigo Health operates a 24 hour, seven days a week Psychiatric Regional Triage Service and has aligned services to support people who require crisis care. Psychiatric Services work with children and families, youth, adults and aged patients and provide care and support in community settings through clinical teams that are situated across the Loddon Mallee Region
About our Inpatient Services
Bendigo Health's Psychiatric Inpatient Services is made up for four Units: Psychiatry Adult, Psychiatry Older Persons, Psychiatry Extended Care and the Psychiatry Parent and Infant Unit.
Psychiatry Adult
Bendigo Health's Psychiatry Adult Unit provides intensive therapeutic treatment during an acute phase of mental illness for patients aged 16-84 years. Services are provided by a multidisciplinary team with support planned and delivered on the basis of the briefest appropriate duration of contact with the best patient outcomes. The unit has 26 low dependency and 9 high dependency beds.
Psychiatry Older Persons
Bendigo Health's Psychiatry Older Persons Unit provides inpatient treatment for persons typically aged 65 years and older with a mental illness and/or behaviours that cannot be safely managed in the community or by other aged care providers. Older Persons is a 20 bed acute inpatient ward supported by a multi-disciplinary team
Psychiatry Extended Care
Bendigo Health's Psychiatry Extended Care Unit is a 20 bed inpatient ward for persons aged 18-64 years experiencing unremitting and severe systems of mental illness along with associated and significant behavioural disturbance. While providing a secure environment for medium to long term treatment and rehabilitation.
Psychiatry Parent and Infant
Bendigo Health's Psychiatry Parent and Infant Unit is a 5 bed unit providing antenatal, postnatal and infant mental health assessment and management.
