Broadmeadows Inpatient Psychiatric Unit is a 25 bed unit including a brand new 5 bed ICA area. We work within the recovery model and have a multidisciplinary approach to care of individuals diagnosed with, or at risk of developing a serious mental illness. We will welcome you as part of a caring, multi-disciplinary team to work with people with challenging and complex mental health presentations.  You will have the prospect to make a difference to our consumers and families with whom you work with.

 

A Job to be proud of:

  • Provide evidence-based clinical advice, guidance and support for ICA nursing staff
  • Aim to reduce the overall rate of adverse events such as occupational violence and the use of restrictive interventions
  • Implement seclusion and restraint debriefing and trauma sensitive care plans
  • Assist in the implementation and evaluation of biological treatment pathways
  • Promote positive change of practice on the preferential use of non-biological interventions, and therapeutic interventions based on consumers’ needs
  • Manage risk and actively work towards implementing risk reduction strategies

Your Contribution:

  • Minimum of Five (5) years’ post-graduate experience in acute psychiatry
  • Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively as part of the interdisciplinary team
  • Proven ability in the provision of high quality, evidence based, patient care
  • Established assessment, clinical reasoning, problem solving and prioritisation skills
  • Demonstrated capacity and initiative to work with limited direction.
  • A proven ability to provide clinical leadership and professional guidance to nursing staff
