IWC seeks a suitably qualified and experienced person, able to work in our community based, established and professional team in the role of AOD Counsellor
The successful applicant will possess appropriate tertiary qualifications in psychology or social work, or relevant experience.
Position: Part-time 0.8 FTE
To conduct assessments and provide a range of counselling interventions to assist clients and their family members associated with AOD use and promote recovery.
This position plays a critical role in the provision of effective AOD treatment and supporting the provision of holistic, wrap-around services, according to the complexity of client and family needs within a recovery focused framework.
Location: Bundaberg
Key Responsibilities
Provide focused psychological strategies and case management, including:
- planning and case management for clients with mental health and social problems.
- assessing and treating a client's needs and behaviours using a variety of evidence based therapies and practices in collaboration with colleagues
- providing support to other professions;
- counselling and supporting carers;
- Maintain high standards of electronic record keeping, file maintenance and quality assurance in service delivery.
Key Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in psychology or social work, or extensive experience in counselling in AOD,
- Demonstrated experience in the assessment, treatment, planning and case management of client needs in a community setting.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage time to effectively organise own workload and to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and work in a culturally safe and constructive manner.
- Demonstrated ability in the use of electronic information systems for the maintenance of clinical and service delivery records.
