The Buttery is a not-for-profit, charitable organisation located near Bangalow in Northern NSW, Australia. The Buttery specialises in treatment of alcohol and other drug misuse, problem gambling and mental health issues. The Buttery is guided by the philosophy that addiction is not a consequence of choice: recovery is.

About the role

The RPAS Support Facilitator will provide enhanced care coordination and wraparound services to people recently assessed by an AOD clinician or GP as having a recent substance use disorder are requiring support to assist with preventing relapse and have complex unmet psychosocial needs that jeopardise their engagement.

The RPAS Support Facilitator will support participants through their care utilising a client-led and negotiated action plan built with motivational approach and an understanding of the stages of change model. The position carries particular responsibilities and challenges that require a capacity for self-direction, strong boundaries and sound judgement. 

This support provided will include (but not be limited to):

  • Maintaining linkages with AOD and primary health services.
  • Functional living supports.
  • Support to access medical and community services.
  • Support to maintain community and family connections.
  • Access to vocational and educational services.
  • Award: Buttery Enterprise Agreement Community Services Worker Category A / Equivalent to SCHADS 4

Who we're looking for

Educational/Vocational Qualifications 

Relevant tertiary qualifications in community services, or approved equivalent qualifications in welfare/psychology/social work.

Personal Abilities, Aptitudes and Skills 

  • Highly developed interpersonal and relationship skills.
  • Positive and person-centred approach with a strong guiding belief about everyone's capacity to self-determination with and beyond their current circumstances.
  • Ability to liaise with a broad and diverse range of people including other treatment professionals, treatment agencies and staff of government and non-government organisations.
  • Willingness to participate in peer review and clinical supervision processes.
  • Consultative approach with ability to work effectively both within a team structure and autonomously.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Client file management skill.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant acts and regulations.
  • Familiarity with and ability to use computers including on-line research tools and common Microsoft Office software including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Understanding of and ability to use database applications and where required, willingness to undertake training.
  • Current NSW Manual driver's licence or equivalent.

Personal Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience working in mental health/AOD recovery-oriented services.
  • Proven experience in undertaking complex negotiations, resolving conflict, building partnerships and addressing resistance.
  • Proven ability to provide support and care coordination to others from a motivational and client-led framework.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
