About the Department

St Vincent's Correctional Health Service at Port Phillip Prison is a 23 bed accredited health service onsite, providing primary, secondary and primary mental health care to prisoners at Port Phillip Prison, Laverton. Port Phillip Prison is a maximum security male prison accommodating approximately 1107 inmates and is situated 20 km West of Melbourne.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Unit Manager to join our dynamic team at Port Phillip Prison. Under the direction the Manager, Correctional health you will provide managerial, clinical and strategic direction for the multidisciplinary team.

Duties

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders in order to improve patient care
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships to support people undergoing the transition from prison to the community
  • Co-ordinate the medication management process to accommodation units and supervise Pharmacy Technicians
  • Supervise the administration team to ensure co-ordination of medical information and co-ordination of outpatient clinic
  • Support teaching and research activities within Correctional Health


Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of nursing Experience in a management position
  • Minimum 5 years clinical experience in a clinical ward, unit or department
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal
