The Hospital
John Flynn Private Hospital is a 334 bed, acute care hospital located at Tugun, which is on the southern end of the Gold Coast, within 5 minutes from the Gold Coast Airport. The hospital provides services to the population of the Gold Coast and the Tweed Coast extending into the NSW Northern Rivers area.
John Flynn provides a wide range of health care services with a 24 hour emergency department, comprehensive cardiac services, general and orthopaedic surgery, cancer services, medical, maternity and paediatrics, renal dialysis, day surgery and rehabilitation services.
John Flynn have a Tier One Contract with the Department of Veteran Affairs and also provide services to the Gold Coast and Tweed Veteran community.
The campus consists of the main hospital building, specialist medical suites, the John Flynn Cancer Centre, and also includes additional services such as radiotherapy (radiation oncology), radiology (x-ray), pathology and a 24 hour pharmacy.
The Opportunity
An opportunity exists for a Registered Nurse with strong managerial and leadership qualities to lead a highly dedicated and professional team. This fast paced and highly rewarding role reports to the Director of Clinical Services. The role requires working with and supporting managers in achieving excellence in care delivery in line with best practice and legislative requirements.
Essential Criteria
Successful applicants must possess:
Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Demonstrated extensive clinical skills and experience within acute health care facility as an emergency nurse including delivering high standards of clinical care for patients utilising specialist knowledge
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a clinical nurse role with demonstrated experience in management and leadership of a busy Emergency Department
Be professional and highly motivated with a passion for enhancing staff engagement
Ability to maintain effective communication networks with doctors, patients, colleagues and other relevant stakeholders
Competent in supervising, leading, directing and motivating staff to achieve outcomes
Effective management of rostering processes and allocation of duties for all clinical staff
Demonstrated ability to manage financial and human resources
High level of communication and interpersonal skills
