About the Department
The 6th floor is a 28 bed unit compromising of 20 acute Haematology, Oncology, Medical beds and 8 Palliative Care beds. The 6th floor operates as part of a dynamic and supportive team that upholds strong values of providing high quality care to our patients and excellent communication between all health professionals from all disciplines.


About the Role
An opportunity currently exists for a Grade 2 Registered Nurse to join the Haematology/Oncology/Palliative Care team on a full time permanent basis. As a Grade 2 Registered Nurse you will be responsible for the delivery of expert clinical care whilst working in a team dedicated to continuous quality improvement.


Duties
• Document, observe and report relevant nursing findings about patients’ status’ and progress
• Liaise with patients, patient’s family, medical and ancillary staff as required
• Act as a role model and provide support to junior staff in all clinical aspects
• Complete Handover in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures
• Actively participate and contribute to all departmental quality improvements


Qualifications, Skills and Experience
• Current Nursing Registration with AHPRA
• Acute Care Nursing experience is essential
• Previous experience in Haematology/Oncology/Palliative Care is desirable
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with patients and staff at all levels
• Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
• Demonstrated time management with the ability to prioritise activities
