About the Role

We are currently seeking applications for the Full-time role (37.5 hours per week) of Court Support Worker to work across our Rockhampton and Yeppoon regions.

This role provides information, support and assistance to applicants of Domestic Violence Orders.  This includes supporting the aggrieved party whilst filing an application for an Order and participating in Court related processes.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Apply theoretical knowledge of domestic and family violence, specifically social justice, social constructionist and feminist perspectives, and other relevant models to provide applicants of Domestic Violence Orders with appropriate support to the aggrieved person at Court.
  • Provide crisis interventions to applicants of Domestic Violence Orders, using appropriate frameworks.
  • Provide applicants with information in relation to Domestic Violence Protection Orders, court processes and the relevant law.
  • Provide women affected by domestic and family violence with information about available services, and assist with referral and advocacy.
  • Provide training and supervision to Court Support Volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain community networks and referral protocols, through liaison and service promotion with court officials, Queensland Police, solicitors, and other community service providers.
  • Conduct client needs assessment in order to provide relevant information and make appropriate referrals.

Work days/hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant, however please note that the position holder will be required to work an evening shift (12pm to 8pm) up to once a week, with some flexibility needed in order to meet business requirements.

 

About You

To be successful in this position, you will have an appropriate undergraduate tertiary qualification in the social or behavioural sciences and a current QLD Drivers Licence. You will have demonstrated experience working within the court process, and experience managing client work. You will have knowledge of court procedures and have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

The salary being offered is circa $54,701 to $77,041 per annum, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation and generous salary packaging options where eligible which will significantly increase the value of take-home pay. Other attractive benefits are available including additional annual leave over the Christmas period, annual leave loading and study leave.
