Position Summary:
A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Speech Pathologist with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to be able to provide speech pathology management to inpatients and outpatients with communication and/or dysphagia resulting from ENT / Head and Neck aetiologies. This includes provision of service to laryngectomy patients with surgical voice restoration, videofluoroscopy and tracheostomy management.

The position is a maximum fixed term parental leave cover providing services to the St Vincent's Hospital campus, Monday - Friday 38 hours per week.

The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

Selection Criteria:

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.

2. Bachelor or post-graduate degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent and eligibility for full practicing membership of the professional association.

3. Extensive clinical experience and Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and exercise independent professional judgement in the assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders with an adult caseload.

4. Experience providing assessment and management of patients with ENT / Head and neck aetiologists following surgery and during radiotherapy treatment.

5. Demonstrated clinical competencies in the management of laryngectomy patients and those with surgical voice restoration.

6. Demonstrated evidence of clear, concise written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team

7. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and experience in the provision of in-service education to health professionals and the supervision of students.

8. Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of quality improvement projects which have led to improvements in clinical practice.
