The NDIA has worked with leading early childhood intervention practitioners and researchers to design a nationally consistent early childhood early intervention (ECEI) approach. The approach is designed to deliver the type and level of early intervention support each child needs to achieve best outcomes. Cerebral Palsy Alliance has partnered with the NDIA to deliver the ECEI approach across the Northern Sydney region.

As the identified ECEI partner in the region CPA will provide services to support early childhood early intervention activities that will improve independence and social participation of children with disability or developmental delay aged 0-6.

 

About the role

The ECEI Coordinator is responsible for screening and assessing children (aged between 0-6 years) with a developmental delay and/or disability to determine their eligibility for NDIS funding. The Coordinator prepares, submits and (where agreed) facilitates the implementation and ongoing review of NDIS plans. 

Other responsibilities include:

  • Conduct client referral appointments, administer screening and functional assessments to determine support requirements, funding eligibility and referral pathways.
  • Develop families understanding and knowledge of the NDIS planning process to support their ability to make informed decisions.
  • Develop and submit client plans and supporting information to the NDIA to determine funding entitlements
  • Identify and develop local community referral pathways and networks; work with local services to increase accessibility, participation and inclusion for clients and their families
  • Work with the team to identify local service gaps and accessibility issues to inform the development and changes to government funding policies
  • Work with families to determine approach to the NDIS plan implementation and management.
  • Conduct risk assessments to determine families’ ability to self-manage approved support plans (as required).
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with external service providers to ensure the effective delivery of required services and to monitor progress to agreed outcomes.
  • Conduct regular assessments to monitor and evaluate client progress against plans.
  • Collaborate with team to implement short-term, best practice early intervention supports (as required) within program resource constraints to support the achievement 0-6 children’s developmental milestones
  • Conduct annual NDIS plan reviews to evaluate progress against agreed goals and identify future funding/support requirements
  • Complete client documentation and administrative obligations in line with organisational and NDIA policies and procedures to ensure reporting requirements are update-to-date and accurate.

This position is a 3 year contract role.

Positions can be full time or part time (min 3 days per week)

Positions are based at Ryde but the role will see you travelling across Northern Sydney to meet the clients and their families.

About You

  • Understanding of the rights of people with a disability
  • Recognised qualification in allied health, social sciences or early childhood education
  • Proven experience working in early childhood intervention
  • Demonstrated understanding of the NDIS, in particular the ECEI approach
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • High level attention to detail
  • Understanding and proficiency in using databases and Microsoft office
  • Sound knowledge of positive behaviour support principles (desirable)
  • Current unrestricted NSW Driver's License (reasonable adjustments will be made where applicable)
  • Willingness to obtain a WWCC prior to commencement
