What you'll be doing

The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) is responsible for the coordination of patient services, unit management and nursing staff management within [ward/unit] consistent with the strategic directions of Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD).
  
The NUM takes overall responsibility for the health care environment and standard of patient care. As the registered nurse in charge of the ward/unit, the NUM performs as a clinical leader and manager with accountability for culture, quality and safety, patient flow, financial management, change management and the experience of patients in that ward/unit.

The NUM is pivotal to the coordination of patient care, ward management and leadership of the professions of nursing and midwifery to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and efficient use of resources.  

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) [and current NSW Driver's Licence]
  • Extensive recent post registration clinical experience and knowledge of current nursing and midwifery issue in the required speciality
  • Proven leadership and management skills and demonstrated ability to lead manage and support a clinical team
  • Evidence of and commitment to patient/customer focussed care, clinical governance and quality improvement
  • Demonstrated knowledge in initiating and implementing changes to improve clinical service delivery and outcomes, models of care, evidence based practice and practice development
  • Demonstrated understanding of budget development and monitoring financial performance
  • Demonstrated experience in written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy in Microsoft applications and roster management systems
  • Demonstrated understanding of how the District is Caring for the Coast and how this role would contribute
