What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2) is an extended role within the scope of a Registered Nurse/Midwife  that provides safe, compassionate, person-centred care to patients and families of the Sydney Children?s Hospital Network  
Acts as an appropriate and effective role model to promote culture and standards that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.  
Provides senior nursing clinical leadership in the development of specialist clinical practice and service delivery within a nursing unit, team or service.  
Provides advanced skills and exercises extended autonomy of decision making while working closely with managers and other senior clinicians.  
? Exercises extended autonomy of decision making;  
? Exercises professional knowledge and judgement in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills.  
? Undertakes  leadership in the development of nursing specialty clinical practice service delivery in the ward/service; or  
? Undertakes primary case management within a defined specialty involving both inpatient and community based services.  
 


  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the relevant clinical area of their post-registration qualification.
  • Demonstrated evidence of advanced clinical practice in the specialty area.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal and problem solving capabilities; able to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong commitment to contribute to own and team professional development and act as a resource person and to mentor others within the specialty where required.
  • Demonstrated evidence of contribution to the development of clinical practice relevant to paediatrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise extended autonomy of decision making capabilities and leadership in the development of nursing specialty clinical practice and service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise professional knowledge and judgment in providing complex care requirements of patients/clients in the specialty field.
