Owned and operated by Ramsay Health Care, Australia's largest and most respected private hospital operator, Peninsula Private Hospital is a comprehensive 272 bed acute emergency, surgical, medical, cardiac and obstetric facility located in the bayside town of Frankston in Melbourne's south eastern suburbs. The hospital currently accommodates a 14 bay emergency department, 160 medical and surgical, 14 cardiac, 11 ICU, 7 Neonatal, 14 Obstetric, and 33 Oncology beds which include 10 day infusion chairs. As a fully accredited health care facility we offer the highest standards of clinical care, patient service, and technology.
Peninsula Private Hospital now provides an onsite 24/7 emergency service.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated Clinical Coder to join the team at Peninsula Private Hospital. The successful applicant will have attention to detail and be well organised. Supporting and reporting to the Chief Health Information Manager you will be results driven and understand the importance of assigning accurate and timely coding of medical records using current coding standards.
Essential Selection Criteria
- Recognised degree or qualification in ICD-10-AM coding
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Clinical Coder
- Extensive knowledge of and proven experience in hospital medical record coding covering a variety of specialties
- Previous experience using the 3M CodeFinder Software
- Have a strong understanding of the effects of documentation on coding
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong computer skills
Desirable criteria:
- Previous Private Hospital experience
- Knowledge of Health Fund Contracts
- Experience in Meditech software
- Completion of HIMAA Intermediate/Advanced ICD-10-AM coding course
