About the Department

The Chair of Palliative Medicine (CPM) is located in the Daly Wing office, based in open plan office housing research staff from a range of areas. The Chair of Palliative Medicine is a newly developed area of research that seeks to build a collaborative research program in the field of Palliative Care. The focus of research of this group are in developing effective and innovative approaches to care provision, communication and engagement with patients, families and the general public and Symptom assessment.



About the Role

An excellent opportunity exists for a motivated and skilled Research Assistant to play a central role in supporting projects within the VCCC Chair of Palliative Medicine Research Group, led by Professor Jennifer Philip. The successful candidate will be required to provide technical and research support to various projects, and work in collaboration with members from a number of palliative care clinical sites and interfacing organisations. The aim of the position is to support the development, project management and successful progress of Palliative Care research conducted by the group associated with the Chair of Palliative Medicine. The Research Assistant will provide research and administrative assistance to several Palliative Care research studies, including facilitating the development of a database of opioid pharmacogenomics in palliative care to be conducted across a series of clinical sites.

Duties

  • Assisting in the development and conduct of research projects within the broader research team, including recruitment, data collection, data management, and general project administrative tasks
  • Assisting in the writing of project reports and preparation of articles for publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Undertaking personal professional development to remain up-to-date in palliative care and evidence based practice


Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • A bachelor degree in a health/behavioural/ relevant science field (with honours would be highly regarded)
  • Current driver’s license
  • Demonstrated highly developed written, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake study recruitment and data collection
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out literature searches using appropriate databases
