Salary: applicable to classification

Hours: up to 86 per fortnight depending on classification
Status: Full-time, fixed term, 6 or 12 month terms.

Period of Employment: 4 February 2019 - 2 February 2020


This GP Registrar position is an Aged Care advanced training course accredited by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).  The post is fulltime for either 6 or 12 months.
 

The Special advanced skills that would be gained by a Registrar or Fellowed GP undertaking this post which would add value to holistic patient care, improve quality of life, reduce hospital admissions and facilitate patients being able to reside in their own home include:

  • Palliative care, not only for people with cancer, but those with end stage respiratory, cardiac and renal disease
  • Chronic disease management
  • Chronic pain management and rehabilitation
  • Assessment of patient with acute deterioration in aged care facilities, to enable management within the facility to avoid unnecessary and traumatic transfer to emergency department.
  • Liaison with GPs
  • Residential in Reach
  • Transition Care Program and Restorative Care
  • Assessment and management of cognitive decline including dementia
