About the Unit
The Short Stay ward is an eight bed unit providing oncology care across all tumour streams and presentations. It is a fast paced and challenging ward with the aim of rapidly assessing acutely unwell patients thus, stabilising patients before transferring to an inpatient ward or well enough to be discharged home. The unit will also admit post surgical overnight patients who are ready for discharge home the next day.
Your role in our future
We are currently recruiting highly motivated Registered nurses for Full time and Part Time positions in our collaborative team. Our team of Nurses are committed to providing best evidence based practice in a supportive environment. There are opportunities to further develop clinical nursing skills in an acute care setting and work towards leadership positions.
The ideal applicant will have a nursing oncology background in an acute care setting with the following skills looked at favourably:
- Ability to adapt to changing and dynamic ward environment.
- Sound patient assessment skills and problem solving skills
- Abilitiy to effectively communicate with the multi disciplinary team
- Willingness to learn and commit to best evidenced based practice
- Experience with ECG interpretation and monitoring
