Opening October 2018, the Northern Beaches Hospital (NBH) will be a fully licensed private hospital, provide care to public and private patients from an outstanding facility with a large range of quality services provided by exceptional midwives, nurses, doctors and staff.

As the Clinical Coordinator you will make an impact by working across the whole hospital with multidisciplinary teams to influence and coordinate efficient patient journeys in keeping with key performance indicators and targets in relation to patient movement and appropriate staffing.

You will:
  • Be the face of the hospital to internal and external stakeholders such as all hospital staff, VMOs and their Office staff, other hospitals and related services, and as such will be highly focused on the provision of excellence in customer service
  • Lead patient flow systems and the management of capacity by working in collaboration with all NBH services.
  • Participate in the strategic planning and direction of patient flow demands and activity management across NBH
  • Continuously review and take action on any operational issues that may restrict flow or lead to access or exit block
  • Oversee processes to decrease access and exit block, waiting lists / times and bed / case cancellations
  • Work in conjunction with the Deputy Director of Nursing to smooth the flow of patients throughout the hospital and coordinate resources
  • Coordinate patient admissions and inter-hospital, human and material resources
  • Regularly review unplanned admissions / planned admissions / transfers / delays in transfers and Emergency Department status to optimise bed utilisation
  • Monitor the availability of inpatient beds with the Patient Access & Services Coordinator and others to optimise utilisation
  • Lead on demand management issues such as Elective Surgery Treatment Performance, Emergency Treatment Performance and NSW Ambulance Transfer of Care Performance.
  • Take a process reengineering approach to assessing flow impedance to put in place ongoing systems and processes to address the issues
  • Liaise with Visiting Medical Officers, Resident Medical Officers and General Practitioners.
An experienced manager with a passion for developing talent within the team, you will also possess the following skills and attributes:
  • Current Registration with AHPRA
  • Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent
  • Post graduate qualification in nursing - graduate certificate or above
  • Post graduate qualification in Leadership and Management
  • Previous management experience of more than 3 years within a large acute healthcare facility
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a patient flow role in a large acute care hospital
  • Demonstrated effective change management skills
  • Demonstrated planning and organisational skills
  • Well-developed problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High degree of computer literacy including Microsoft Office
  • Prior experience in the private healthcare system will be well regarded
