The Environmental Health Officer reports directly to the Senior Environmental Health Officer and is responsible for educating, enforcing and monitoring laws and regulations governing public and environmental health management with an aim to promote health and wellbeing within the Community.

The ideal candidate would be responsible for conducting routine inspections (Food and PH&W) and all degrees of nuisance complaints so therefore would need to be very competent in these areas. We need an EHO that has extensive experience to be able to hit the ground running with very little guidance.

The main Responsibilities will include but not be limited to;

  • Educate, monitor and enforce laws and regulations governing public health and environmental management.
  • Asisst in the development of health promotion programs
  • Provide assistance and advice in the development of public and environmental health strategies, policy documents and guidelines.
  • investigate and manage public health incidents and customer requests.
  • Build and maintain professional partnerships with key external and internal stakeholders.
  • Produce and maintain high quality written reports that convey complex messages in a concise and effective manner.

To be considered for this position, you will have the following;

Essential Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience within the Environmental Health field, educating, monitoring and enforcing laws and regulations governing public and environmental health.
  • Ability to work independently, unsupervised with high level interpersonal, organisational, communication and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying complex problems, developing solutions, ideas and opportunities for resolving and implementing strategies for resolution.     
  • Ability to work within a high functioning team with the aptitude to support an inclusive and positive team culture.
  • Experience in the development of evidence based community health promotion programs          

 

Essential Qualifications and Licenses

  • Bachelor Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent, as recognised by Environmental Health Professionals Australia
  • Current Victorian drivers licence
