Reporting to the Director, Asset Management as a highly qualified project lead, you will support the integrity of the network by holding their delivery partners accountable for their delivery responsibilities. The Project lead will also be expected to Chair and manage an interagency working group and the Project Steering Committee.

In this critical role you will have significant engagement across the business, affiliates, and other Government Departments.

The role requires;

  • A high level of project management and contract/commercial management acumen and strong analytical capability
  • Exceptional organisation skills, understanding of best practice with respect to asset criticality and condition metrics, asset condition assessment and validation techniques and aspects of the asset life cycle and how asset condition changes over the ability to coordinate and collaborate the stakeholders, activities and deliverables for a project across a complex range of asset classes
  • Manage and facilitate specialised consultants, to build and maintain relationships between all stakeholders
  • Concurrently developing the Asset Condition Assessment framework and an Asset Condition Assessment Policy for application across the business assets
  • Ability to deliver projects on scope, time, budget and quality
  • Defining an Asset Management frame work and partnering with partners to assure progressive improvement of their asset portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Effective decision making throughout the Expression of Interest, Request for Tender and delivery phases of the project
  • Successful project management of the Asset Condition Assessment Project, including leading the project steering committee and a multi-agency project working group, and prioritising resources and workload in a complex project delivery environment
  • Identification, management and escalation of project risks
  • Lead contract negotiation and provide commercial/contract advice
  • High quality presentations and project reporting to various stakeholders
  • Lead stakeholder engagement at senior levels in the public sector
  • Provide judgement and integrity in workplace relationships and building networks across the business and with external agencies to inform advice and influence outcomes 
  • Successfully lead communication and collaboration with operators and consultants to facilitate access, collection, analysis and agreement on asset condition metrics and effective collection and verification of asset condition information
  • Provision of high level experience in asset management, including expertise in asset life cycle management, asset criticality and condition assessment, and asset degradation over time
  • Execute the development of an Asset Condition Assessment Policy and associated procedures.

Experience and Qualifications include;

  • Extensive experience in the management of complex projects with demonstrated experience in the delivery of transport infrastructure or services projects
  • Extensive proven experience in leading complex projects in both public (government) and private industry
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise and achievement in the field of asset condition assessment and asset system life cycle management
  • Advanced knowledge of asset information management and asset information management system
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare technical or position papers, strategies and policies to inform stakeholders and drive decision making, utilising information from a range of stakeholders or sources
  • Strong commercial acumen to allow the delivery of cost effective solutions and negotiate outcomes that represent value for money
  • Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant Engineering, IT, Contract Management or Project Management or equivalent
  • Tertiary/post graduate qualifications in business management or asset management
