The Role:

This role includes managing the end to end process of the leasing and licencing of Community land as well as overseeing the regular and casual bookings of Council’s community halls. Of key importance in this role is the development of strong relationships with the Community and the ongoing management of Council’s diverse range of stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes.

Tasks include but not limited to:

  • Provide leadership, coaching and development opportunities for the Team and assist them in delivering a high standard of service.
  • Demonstrate an understanding on what customers and stakeholders value now and into the future and use this to continuously improve services.
  • Develop a marketing/promotions plan to create a high level of awareness within the Community of the availability of Council’s facilities.
  • Assist in the review and implementation of the Community Facilities Policy across the City of Canterbury Bankstown.
  • Assist in the management of Council’s community/open space including the negotiation, preparation and review of lease and licence agreements.
  • Liaise with Council’s appointed legal advisors on issues and documents relating to the management and administration of Community land as required.
  • Assist in the development of a business model for the future operation of the Riverwood Community Hub.
  • Prepare Council and ELT reports as required.
  • Assist Community groups in the management of externally funded projects.
  • Assist with concept and master planning processes for Council managed Community Land.
  • Liaise with the relevant Council departments to ensure that proactive and reactive maintenance for Council facilities is completed to a high standard and in a timely manner.
  • Carry out other tasks as required and assigned by the Coordinator-Recreation and Community Facilities.

Essential Criteria:

  • Current Class C NSW Drivers licence
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business Management, Marketing or related Discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills together with a high level strategic and analytical thinking
  • Demonstrated relationship management experience
  • High level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of the Local Government Act 1993, Crown Land Management Act 2016, particularly aspects relating to the public land management and other relevant legislation.
