Your new company
This major Victorian state government is committed to the betterment of the Victorian environment and planning, through major reform it continues to be at the forefront of change for the Victorian state government. A vacancy exists now exists for a Senior Policy Officer to work alongside a highly capable policy team focused on the implementation a major reform program of work, following a review of planning regulations.
Your new role
The Senior Policy Officer, is available for an initial three month period, with extension likely and will work on the implementation of major policy changes set to occur across the planning sector. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to provide policy analysis and undertake research as required and will prepare ministerial and executive briefings on complex planning issues at a strategic and operational level. You will be focused on the preparation of materials and guidance that will implement recent legislative changes to a number of acts that are set to be put in front of government. The role will see you work with a highly intelligent team and a range of internal/external stakeholders, gathering a wide range of information in order to suggest and develop new policies for the group.
What you'll need to succeed
As the successful applicant you will need skills in policy research, policy analysis and development. You will have experience working within government, having taken a lead in policy development and research. Ideally you have experience of working within a strategic and/or operational policy environment. Experience and or knowledge in the following areas is also :
- Experience of public policy and operating at a senior policy officer/ analyst level
- Experience working with the public service, Victorian State Government, and/or regulated industry
- Regulatory experience and/or industry regulation is sought after
- Strong policy and analytical skills are essential
- An ability to provide sound concise information targeted to a range of stakeholder audiences
- Strong stakeholder and communication skills, both written and verbal
