$90,678.64 pro-rata per annum (including Port Hedland Allowance)

The Town of Port Hedland is currently seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join our Rangers team. Reporting to the Team Leader Ranger Services, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing an educational approach to community compliance to support customers to comply with legislation, council policy and local laws.

The Role and Responsibilities

To enforce council’s legislative and policy responsibilities, particularly in relation to companion animals, to ensure council provides best practice compliance services that protect and enhance the environment and the safety of the community. 

  • Undertake compliance patrols to address issues relating to ranger services functions
  • Minimise risk to council property by maintaining an eyes on the street approach
  • Investigate breaches and enforce compliance in a professional and efficient manner
  • Provide support as instructed during emergencies including bushfires
  • Ability to undertake community safety and crime prevention patrols as may be required

Position Requirements

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Certificates in Municipal Law Enforcement A and B
  • Certificate IV in Local Government Regulatory Services
  • Current ‘C’ class manual drivers licence
  • Current Working with Children Card
  • National Police Clearance
  • Experience in firearms handling and safety, or the ability to obtain a firearms license.
