To assist in the delivery of established programs and maintenance services within Works Services and in particular the minor maintenance of pits, pipes, drainage repairs, pit cleaning with the suction unit, pipe cleaning with the high velocity jetting truck and litter basket cleaning to ensure that the drainage system is clear of obstructions and functioning effectively as per Council's Road Management Plan. The Drainage Maintenance Crew participates in the Council's Performance Development and Review process. This involves planning and agreeing work and skill development objectives, reviewing and assessing achievements on a regular basis.

The role will include but is not limited to the following duties:

  • Organise and undertake daily drainage maintenance and minor repair
  • Ensure the directions of the Works Officer Drainage and Coordinator Works Services are carried out promptly
  • Monitor and report to the Works Officer Drainage items of vehicular and plant maintenance
  • Ensure that sate working practices are maintained
  • Monitor stock level of materials required for drainage related works
  • Complete assigned tasks which include rotation within the team and other Operations activities

To be successful in this role you require the following experience:

  • Ability to work as pert of a self managed work team
  • Experience and ability to undertake semi-skilled work
  • Basic supervisory skills to provide supervision and guidance to colleagues, casuals and contractors
  • Knowledge of the Confined Space Entry Works, E.E.O, OH&S and Safety Act
  • Basic mechanical skills or an appropriate trade certificate
  • Ability to produce and work off basic sketches

In addition you will also require the following qualifications:

  • Licensed to drive heavy vehicles with appropriate endorsements
  • Appropriate traffic management qualifications
