About QIMR Berghofer:

About the Cancer and Population Studies Group:

The Cancer and Population Studies Group aims to understand the causes of cancer and other chronic diseases and how to better prevent and manage these conditions. Thus, we investigate the roles of environmental and personal factors in the causation and prognosis of chronic conditions. We collaborate with clinicians, statisticians and behavioural scientists and also with laboratory scientists to better understand the underlying mechanisms of disease development and how to combat them. 

Role Purposes / Responsibilities:

This position will involve extracting relevant data from medical charts within agreed time frames, assisting with data management and conducting relevant literature searches and reviews.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Extract all relevant personal and clinical information from medical charts of heart transplant recipients
  • Data entry into study database 
  • Clean and maintain the dataset
  • Liaise with collaborators and co-investigators
  • Interact with collaborators and co-investigators

About You:

To be successful in this role you will have;

  • Degree in medical science, health science or other relevant field
  • High level of attention to detail, particularly in handling data and record keeping
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access 
  • Highly motivated and efficient worker
  • Ability to understand and interpret relevant medical terminology and identify the key clinical terms
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team
  • Ability to adhere to specific work schedules and meet deadlines
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
