About the role

Contribute to the environment, health and wellbeing of IWC’s current and future population by ensuring access to community resources and grants is aligned with Council's strategic direction. This position has an emphasis on excelling in customer service and is responsible for 

  • undertaking research as directed by the Community and Cultural Planning Coordinator and Social and Cultural Planning Manager, and
  • the supervising the operation, marketing, and administration of Council’s grants and partnerships program including Community Grants, Individual Artist Grants, Cultural Gants and annual partnerships throughout the local government area.

Working as part of the Community Resourcing and Research team you will assist your team in consistently working to meet its targets and commitments against the team work and performance plans and Council’s Operational and Strategic Plans. You will facilitate partnerships across Council and the community. You will assist colleagues in writing grant applications to external organisations. 

You will be community focused and work collaboratively with Integrated Community and Cultural Planning Coordinator and Social and Cultural Planning Manager to ensure the success of the service unit.

Key duties

  • To ensure effective research support for the Social and Cultural Planning Unit.
  • To ensure that the operation, marketing and grants application process is undertaken in an effective manner to promote the image of Council as efficient and community focused and responsive in all its operations.
  • Coordinate the grants applications, including coordinating grants applications sessions, client liaison and internal collaboration to ensure that all grants agreements are appropriately administered.
  • Undertake the administration needs of the research and grants administration processes including coordination of the grants registration system, and ensuring the administration team acquires the appropriate governance documentation required for grants assessment from applicants.
Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications

Essential Criteria  

  1. Experience in developing research and evaluation frameworks, undertaking research programs, and reporting on research outcomes.
  2. Experience in demographic research, and capacity to undertake quantitative research and analysis.
  3. Experience in the management of grants including quality assurance of grants governance, co-ordination of application processes and assessment processes and supervision of day-to-day administration , marketing and applicant inquiries.
