An exciting opportunity exists for Registered Nurses to join our inpatient mental health team on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about providing quality evidence-based mental health nursing care, within a recovery model framework. We currently have positions across our 3 inpatient mental health units at Manly Hospital, including Adult Acute, Psychiatric Emergency Care (PECC) and Older Person’s Mental Health (OPMHS). Full-time and part-time applicants will be considered. 


This role will be a NSW Health position based at Manly and/or Mona Vale Hospital until October 2018, at which time this position will move into the world-class Northern Beaches Hospital at Frenchs Forest and the new employer will be Healthscope.

What you'll be doing
The Registered Nurse (RN) within Mental Health Drug and Alcohol (MHDA) Services leads and supports quality patient health outcomes with a focus of recovery across a range of health care settings. The RN assumes a leadership role within the nursing team supporting, coaching and leading nursing staff including Enrolled Nurses (EN) and Assistants in Nursing (AIN). The RN plans, implements and evaluates specific mental health nursing care activities that support the multidisciplinary health care team and ensures safe practice within adopted models of care. 
 
Employees must abide by the NSW Health Code of Conduct. Criminal record checks will be undertaken on successful applicants and applicants for positions designated as Category A will be required to obtain required vaccinations prior to commencing employment. 
 
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Registered Nurse - Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Current mental health, drug and alcohol clinical knowledge and clinical problem solving ability.
  • A commitment to excellence in nursing practice and continuing professional development.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • An understanding of the professional, ethical and legal requirements of the Registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the use of information technology systems.
