About the role

We are seeking two Senior Project Managers to lead and manage multiple complex programs and projects, from concept through to implementation, delivering quality outcomes within established budgets and time frames, supporting the achievement of Port Authority of New South Wales objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams, including external contractors, in the delivery of multiple programs and projects to meet time, cost and quality objectives
  • Facilitate the tender process, including liaising with key stakeholders and providing accurate, comprehensive briefs; participating in panels; and evaluating submissions to ensure appropriate contractor selection and best value for money
  • Provide robust and flexible program and project planning to drive integrated outcomes that achieve strategic objectives with minimal planned disruption to port operations and stakeholders
  • Identify and provide input to risk management strategies, assessment of environmental impacts and potential mitigations for proposed developments
  • Engage key stakeholders including community, land owners and other government organisations to identify and manage expectations consistent with program and project objectives
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with Port Authority’s WHS requirements and relevant legislation, regulations, codes and standards, to identify hazards, prevent injuries and ensure safe work practices
  • Collaborate on and implement project communication plans
  • Record and maintain accurate contract documentation to ensure projects are completed in accordance with contract provisions, deliver the design intent and minimise unexpected variations
  • Champion best practice project management methodology

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline, e.g. Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing multiple, interrelated complex projects and programs, including infrastructure construction, real estate and port development or property projects, to achieve integrated organisation outcomes
  • Knowledge of property development, asset management, engineering construction and planning approvals processes
  • Ability to analyse multi-faceted issues, think laterally and prepare appropriate recommendations
  • Contract management including negotiation, monitoring progress and performance
  • Financial skills to monitor and manage project and program budgets
  • Ability to coordinate and manage diverse technical experts on issues outside own area of experience and expertise
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relationship management skills to build effective, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders
