An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated Recreation Officer to join us here at Woollahra Municipal Council on a part time basis.

As the Recreation Officer, you will be required to coordinate and administer events within Council’s Open Space and proactively plan for the strategic management of recreation to meet the needs of the existing and future community.

Reporting to the Team Leader Open Space and Recreation you will assist in the assessment of potential impacts of proposed developments on and adjacent to parks and reserves and support the team to promote, schedule and coordinate the use of parks, sport fields and foreshore areas.

Our ideal applicant will come with exceptional customer service experience, have a high attention to detail and will be able to work both autonomously and as part of a dynamic team.

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience and demonstrated commitment in customer relations
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in recreation and/ event management
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Demonstrated high level of written and oral communication skills
  • Higher level computer literacy, including information management systems and website
  • Proven negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to Council’s corporate values
  • Proven ability to achieve objectives and meet deadlines

Desirable Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in leisure / event management or suitable discipline
  • Knowledge of Film / TV Industry / Sports & Recreation
  • Understanding of Local Government issues
  • Knowledge of administrating the allocation of venues for sporting and recreational activities
