Overview
Shoalhaven City Council is seeking an enthusiastic and suitably qualified applicant to join the Northern Maintenance team as a Leading Hand Plant Operator. You will be required to operate minor & major plant, as well as light trucks.
Your New Role
Reporting directly to the Team Supervisor – Central Maintenance, the focus of this position is to:
- Operate plant or light trucks for the maintenance and/or minor construction of the road network and/or buildings
- Undertake manual tasks including working with Hot and Cold mix products, shoveling, digging, traffic control, etc.
- Support and supervise staff in the day to day operations of the Maintenance Unit
- Ensure the work area’s compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies and ensure that risks are managed.
- Assist in Councils’ after hours responses to emergencies and other operational needs. This includes being available for ‘call backs’.
About You
In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:
- School Certificate or equivalent
- Minimum 12 month’s work experience in civil construction and/or maintenance activities
- Demonstrated experience in operating minor and major plant and/or light trucks
- NSW Class MR Drivers’ Licence (must be current at the time of application)
- Current National WHS Construction Card (WorkCover)
- RMS Traffic Controller Certificates – Traffic Controller Blue Card and Apply Traffic Control Plans - Yellow card, or willingness to obtain.
This position will work 76 hours within a 2 week roster.
