About the position:

Located in the Water & Waste Directorate, within our Business Performance Branch, you will be responsible for establishing and leading a Centre of Excellence for process improvement as part of the Business Process Improvement Framework. You will also drive improvements to our integrated management system, compliance and risk management activities.

Key Deliverables of the position:

  • Finalisation and implementation of a new Business Process Improvement Framework to support the documentation, management and improvement of business processes that support core services.
  • Implement a ‘Lean’ business improvement approach (methodology) across Water & Waste, focused on managing resources for a sustainable future and achieving process efficiencies by eliminating non-value add activity and redundant processes.
  • Champion the Project Team in the implementation of an ICT solution to enable the business to effectively and efficiently capture, retain, find and access, improve, implement and monitor its business processes and tacit knowledge.
  • Build internal capability by establishing and leading a Centre of Excellence so process improvement becomes a key repeatable activity and is incorporated as part of Water and Waste’s core business.
  • Maintenance of Water and Waste Directorate Risk Register, including the establishment of processes to manage the identification, escalation and monitoring of operational risks and emerging issues.
  • Implement the Corporate Compliance Framework within Water and Waste, including the utilisation of Corporate Compliance IT solution.

About you:

  • You are a natural leader, who champions change and develops people to obtain their personal and organisational goals.
  • You are a process improvement professional with experience in leading business improvement activities as part of a large organisation, ideally public sector/utility environment.
  • You have experience in implementing LEAN methodology to undertake process improvements and have practical working knowledge of process management software.
  • You are driven and motivated to bring about cultural change in order to meet business objectives and you thrive on challenge.
  • You need an understanding of the legislative environment in which a water/solid waste utility operates.
