About the role

You will be accountable for the scoping, planning, stakeholder engagement, procurement, contract management, financial management and delivery of programmed infrastructure capital works.

Your focus will be the capital renewal of road, stormwater and transport related assets.

Your outcomes will address the social, environmental, economic and governance objectives of Council’s Community Strategic Plan.

You will develop, implement and manage service contracts to achieve efficient delivery of funded programs each year.

You will implement best practice project management systems and processes and ensure assigned capital projects and programs are delivered within budgeted year.

Your work and activities will meet targets and commitments in your individual or team work plans and Council’s Operational and Strategic Plans.

You will facilitate partnerships and collaborate across Council in solving problems and developing solutions.

Salary

$69,809 - $99,658 p.a. + super

One day off per month

This position attracts civil liabilities allowance subject to eligibility as per the Award.

Requirements

Essential:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering, project management, construction management or other appropriate discipline recognised by relevant Australian professional institute and/or;
  2. Comprehensive experience managing construction and maintenance of civil infrastructure by contract to technical specifications.
  3. Well-developed service delivery, project management, procurement and contract management skills successfully utilised in delivering infrastructure services.
  4. Strong interpersonal & communication skills (written & oral) together with proven ability for negotiation and conflict resolution. Ability to engage staff and stakeholders and work collaboratively. Ability to represent Council to external organisations, customers and members of the public.
  5. Sound budget management skills and experience.
  6. Current NSW Class C Driver’s Licence.

Desirable:

  1. Demonstrated appreciation of the complexity of Local Government, in particular the social, political and legal frameworks within which it operates.
  2. Understanding of or experience with the Australian Business Excellence framework or experience in development and execution of improvement initiatives or continuous improvement.
  3. Comprehensive contract administration skills.
