The Manager – Governance and Compliance provides direction, supervision and support to the team in their service delivery of payroll related services including the production, reconciliation and disbursement of fortnightly payrolls and superannuation of the organisation and the ongoing governance and compliance of SAP related payroll functions.
 
Key accountabilities
  • Manage the timely and accurate delivery of fortnightly payroll, including the timely notification of salary advices and annual payment summaries by ensuring reconciliations, disbursements and accounting transactions are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding salary deductions, salary sacrifice, payslips & payment summaries, superannuation, taxation, system related issues and implementing legislative reform initiatives.
  • Provide expert payroll, superannuation and taxation advice to internal teams and senior management on interpreting, applying and implementing legislation, industrial awards, employment conditions and policies to ensure efficient payroll related services.
  • Lead the development and implementation of change management involved in new systems, processes and procedures by identifying best practice and adopting industry standards and reform.
  • Ensure compliance of relevant legislative, regulatory, policies and procedures with continuous monitoring and evaluation to implement ongoing changes in industry reform, compliance and opportunities for innovation and efficiencies to achieve organisational outcomes.
  • Manage a team of staff to allocate work, determine priorities, adhere to deadlines, quality and accuracy standards are met including internal and external customer experience standards with the ongoing identification of training and development needs of staff to deliver services.
  • Contribute to User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with key partners and allocate project tasks to ensure system enhancements deliver improved processes and efficiencies.
 
Key challenges
  • Establish and foster relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective claims management and outcomes relating to income protection.
  • Supervise the governance and compliance team and manage conflicting business requirements, contentious issues and ensuring administrative functions are completed within required timeframes.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of industrial awards, policies and legislative requirements to ensure advice drives service delivery for injured officers regarding income protection and enhance improvements in client services.
