About us
The Department of Justice and Regulation's People and Culture team provides services and advice to the department about human resources, occupational health and safety, industrial relations, workforce planning and innovation.
The Workplace Relations Team is responsible for management of the Justice Portfolio's industrial relations program, the management of departmental employee relations issues and also administers the internal review of actions process.
About the role
As the Workplace Relations Consultant, your role will have three significant aspects to it.
- You will be the Review of Actions Registrar and will be responsible for managing the Department's review of actions process, with a view to resolving issues without resorting to a formal dispute hearing.
- In the role, you will also be responsible for providing consultancy services, advice and coaching around people management issues across the Department's business units in relation to underperformance, discipline, conflict resolution, consultation processes, employee ill-health, organisational change and other employee relations issues.
- You will provide industrial relations advice and support across the Justice portfolio and develop strategies aimed at resolving industrial issues, represent the department at industrial forums and assist in the management of a range of industrial matters.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
- substantial experience in the management of a dispute resolution process
- advanced experience in case managing a range of human resource issues, with extensive knowledge of employee relations management
- experience in providing specialist technical advice to deliver successful industrial relations outcomes, preferably within a Government workplace
- a specialist understanding of the legislative and industrial framework that applies to the Victorian Public Service, including the Public Administration Act 2004, the Fair Work Act 2009 and the Victorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement 2016.
A tertiary qualification in industrial relations, human resources, employment law, dispute resolution or a related discipline and/or experience in a similar environment is highly desirable.
