About this role
Do you have an interest in influencing how ethical research is conducted at NSW Health facilities? Are you a researcher who has ever wanted to ‘fix’ governance? The NSW Office for Health and Medical Research is the key agency delivering a wide range of programs and activities to support the research sector. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Policy Officer to join our Research Ethics and Governance Unit to work in this dynamic portfolio.

Where you'll be working
The NSW Office for Health and Medical Research works to ensure that NSW will have a global reputation as a centre for excellence for health and medical research that supports a high quality health system and generates social and economic benefits to the people of NSW. The Office is situated in the Ministry of Health and reports through the Chief Health Officer. The Unit is a small team which offers its members multiple interest areas in which to get involved.

What you'll be doing
This Senior Policy Officer role is central to the development of the suite of Research Ethics and Governance policies and guidelines as well as reforming the health and medical research pre-approval process. The dynamic local and international research landscape means there is always something new to learn and to translate into local policy and practice for the research community. There is rarely a typical day in this role, as the SPO advises a variety of stakeholders, including researchers, research offices and industry, and is involved in state and national initiatives.
