Our Rangers are responsible for assisting the Local Laws Coordinator with the administration and enforcement of domestic animal and livestock control and management services, as well as providing education to our community in regard to responsible animal ownership.

To be successful in this role you will require:

  • Certificate IV in Animal Management & Control
  • Certificate IV in Regulatory Compliance or equivalent and/or significant experience in a similar field 
  • Significant experience in developing evidence briefs and presenting in Court
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience of the Infringement system, associated Court functions, relevant sections of the Local Government Act and other related legislation
  • Demonstrated ability to make accurate observations, record details and take statements in a legally defensible manner
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Current working with children and national police check
  • Ability to participate in the out of hours on call roster

The successful applicant will be required to work as part of the out of hours on call roster, generally this comprises working out of hours and weekends one week in four.  Officers are required to respond to all domestic animal and livestock on roads matters as part of the on call arrangements.  Council has a 45 minute response guarantee to on call situations therefore the successful applicant will need to be able to attend all parts of the shire within 45 minutes.
