Our client, the Shire of Victoria Plains is actively recruiting for an experienced Finance Officer to be part of their team and oversee the Shire’s day to day financial operations and reporting.  This is an excellent opportunity to join a Shire situated in a serene country location only 1 ½ hours from Perth.
  
As the Shire’s Finance Officer you will be responsible for ensuring financial compliance with relevant Local Government finance regulations and reporting obligations.  Some of your key responsibilities will be:  

• Preparation of the monthly financial statements for presentation to Council
• Processing monthly bank reconciliations
• Management of all accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Coordination and accurate processing of the Shire’s payroll
• Maintaining the general ledger
• Assisting the Manager Finance & Administration with the preparation of the annual budget and monthly BAS/GST returns
• Compilation of statutory returns relating to financial and human resource management matters  

To be successful for this position you will need to have previous finance experience in a similar role, have a high attention to detail, a commitment to accuracy and financial compliance, competent computer skills, have a strong work ethic and a ‘can-do’ attitude.  Previous Local Government experience is highly desirable.
  
The Shire of Victoria Plains is offering an attractive annual salary between $70,000 - $90,000 per annum plus superannuation, which will be negotiated with the successful applicant based on skills and experience.  The Shire has subsidised housing available if required.
