The opportunity

The Media Technologies team is responsible for providing technical set up and support for events and exhibitions across all MAAS sites. As the Senior AV Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Delivery, maintenance and support of quality AV exhibition, program and event experiences
  • Setting up, striking and operating AV and lighting equipment to support performance and events
  • Designing and installing a wide range of interactive and AV equipment 
  • Installing, repairing and maintaining electronic displays, AV and interactive displays
  • Documenting technical specifications and basic drawings, fostering and encouraging an environment conducive to innovative approaches to AV systems development, maintenance and support
  • Undertaking basic repairs, rebuilding and modifications for mechanical displays and exhibits across the Museum that include working and repairing plastics, metals, alloys and timber
  • Supervising a team of permanent and casual Technicians, providing support, training and coaching to foster positive working relationships and a team spirit

To be successful in this role you will need to possess the following skills, experience and attributes
  • Demonstrated experience in the operations and support of audio visual lighting and media delivery systems in an events, exhibition or theatre environment
  • A broad and developed knowledge and understanding of lighting, sound and audio-visual equipment and operation
  • Familiarity of computer systems, electronics and specialised software eg; Raspberry Pi, Linux.
